About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced psychological therapist with over 30 years of practice, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Â鶹ԭ´´). I originally studied Anthropology at Durham University, which gave me a deep and lasting interest in how different cultures shape human behaviour, identity, and emotional life. This perspective continues to outline my therapeutic approach, helping me understand each person within the wider story of their relationships, upbringing, and lived experience.

My approach is warm, grounded, and compassionate, and I offer a safe space where you can talk freely, feel fully heard, explore whatever is happening in your life without judgement, find clarity, and move toward meaningful change at your own pace.

How I Work:

Much of my work has focused on trauma, insecure attachment, and the long-lasting effects of early relational experiences. Mindfulness plays an important role in my work. I find that helping clients develop mindful awareness strengthens emotional regulation, reduces anxiety, and creates space for healing. It also supports trauma processing by helping individuals feel more grounded and connected to themselves.

My style is gentle but effective, curious, and collaborative. I aim to help you understand your internal patterns, strengthen your sense of self, process difficult experiences, and move towards greater stability and self-trust. The therapy is always collaborative — we work at your pace, in a way that feels safe and supportive.

Practice description

What You Can Expect:

Clients often describe my approach as calm, compassionate, genuinely understanding and containing. With many years of experience across different therapeutic models, I aim to create a space where you can explore difficult emotions, build resilience and reconnect with parts of yourself that may feel lost or unheard, where you can feel deeply understood and supported. Together, we can explore what feels stuck, heal what’s been painful, and help you move towards a more grounded and connected sense of yourself.

If you’re unsure whether I’m the right therapist for you, I’m happy to offer an initial conversation so you can get a sense of how we might work together.

My first session

With more than thirty years of experience as a therapist, I’ve learned that every first session marks the beginning of a unique and meaningful journey. When I meet a new client, I draw not only on decades of professional training but also on the deep understanding that comes from walking alongside so many individuals through change, challenge, and growth. My focus in that first meeting is to create a space where you feel genuinely heard, safe, and respected—where you can speak at your own pace and know that your story matters. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate the subtle moments that shape therapeutic connection: the pauses, the emerging trust, the courage it takes to share something personal. Each new client reminds me why I continue this work with the same commitment and compassion that have guided me throughout my career. My hope is that from our very first conversation, you’ll feel supported as we begin to explore where you are now and where you’d like to go.
