About me and my therapy practice
Experienced counsellor and psychotherapist offering counselling in South West London to adults, teenagers and children.
Sometimes life feels as though it's not going to plan, relationships aren't working out as you hoped, or something doesn't feel right. My aim is to work alongside you to help you make sense of any issues in your life that are getting you down, and help you to get your life back on track, feel more at ease with yourself, grow in confidence or improve your relationships.
My qualifications and experience include:
MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, University of Roehampton (Â鶹Դ´ accredited course)
Registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator
I have experience of working with adults, adolescents and children from a diverse range of backgrounds in both short term and long term work, in the NHS, in employee assistance programmes, youth counselling organisations and in schools, both in the UK and internationally. I have worked with a wide variety of emotional health issues and life events that bring them to counselling, including depression, anxiety, troubled relationships, low self-confidence, stress, abuse, self-harm, parenting, caring, long term illness, addictions and living with addiction in the family.
Practice description
I offer face to face sessions in a quiet, comfortable room at a wellbeing centre in central Teddington. I also offer walk and talk sessions in Bushy Park and the Thames tow path for adults, and online sessions using MS Teams.
I take an integrative approach, with a strong basis in person-centred therapy, informed by psychodynamic and attachment theory and using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) or solution-focused techniques, depending on what feels appropriate and helpful to you as an individual and your particular needs and wishes. This means that I work collaboratively with you to explore your thoughts and feelings about anything that is troubling you or that you would like to change in your life, while being aware of any impact that past events and relationships may have in the present.
I can work on a short term or long term basis depending on what feels right for you.
When working with children I use a play therapy and creative approach. I also work with parents to help them support their children. I passionately believe that supporting children and teenagers' emotional wellbeing helps them achieve their potential, and learn to cope with life’s challenges, that stands them in good stead later in life.
My first session
The first session is for us to get to know each other and see if working with me feels right for you. We will discuss the issues that bring you to therapy, and what you would like to get out of therapy.
For work with children and teenagers, I will have an initial phone or video call with parents/carers to discuss their concerns, observations and relevant information before a first meeting with the young person.
