My main working day for offering therapy/supervision is a monday. General working hours are 08.30 to 5.30pm. I can occasionally offer a session on a Wednesday or Thursday if needed. I can be contacted for enquiries at any time during the week and aim to respond promptly. Texting to make initial contact/enquiries is fine.
I work face to face, through zoom or teams or phone. Outside of a Monday, zoom meetings can allow more flexibility for me.
About me and my therapy practice
As a senior accredited counsellor/psychotherapist with Â鶹Դ´ I offer therapy and supervision. I have over 30 years experience developing humanistic, professional, enabling relationships, and as a qualified counsellor over 20 years.
My four main areas of working in private practice is as
1. An integrative therapist undertaking short and long term therapy with adults
2. As a counsellor who has worked within Child and Adolescent Mental Health for 24 years I also offer specialist knowledge in working with adolescents over the age of 14. Many young people seeking help will be anxious and cautious about meeting a therapist and I have a very good track history of supporting them to access therapy.
3. I offer parent consultations as a one off or more, for children under 14 or over. Parent consultations are sometimes the only intervention needed and can be very useful to help worried parent/s with their child.
4. I also provide supervision for therapists in practice with adults and for those working with young people where my specialist CAMH experience is very useful. I also provide supervision for trainees and for organisations. The rates for the above supervision do vary from £45 to £60 per hour with some concessions for trainees.
Practice description
Feedback from my clients over many years has always highlighted my ability to facilitate a working environment that has enabled them to work in a relaxed, supportive but also usefully challenging relationship. Many clients fear judgement and I understand this and work actively to create a non-judgemental relationship: no safe or productive therapy can take place without a fundamental trust in this respect. I also focus on working flexibly with clients to meet their needs which may not always be weekly therapy.
All my work is underpinned by a fundamentally humanistic approach. In our lives all of us encounter challenges, distress and confusion and a confidential (within the terms of the legal framework and the ethical guidelines) place to think through these issues and progress to a new understanding is experienced by the vast majority of clients as very helpful and allows change.
My first session
first sessions are usually approximately one hour but the normal fee of £45 applies.
In the first session we will hope to get an understanding of what you wish to work on, how this might be done, and if we feel that we can usefully work together. I encourage all clients to step back for reflection after the first session and contact me via text 24-48 hours after if they wish to continue.
