About me and my therapy practice

I support you discovering transformational inner resources and insights. Drawing on 25+ years of expertise in the integration of Mindfulness and Self-Compassion in Therapy (SCIP), Buddhist psychology and the Person-Centred Approach, whatever distress or struggle brings you to seek counselling I offer a space for reflection and sharing with the intention that you will feel safe, understood and experience meaningful change.  I believe that the relationship we have with ourselves is key to more freedom and ease whatever circumstances we face and this underpins my approach.

Practice description

Perhaps a particular event, experience or relationship, whether recent or in childhood, has left you feeling wounded, overwhelmed and unable to live with the sense of freedom and open heartedness that you long for. You may feel an underlying sense of never belonging, of shame and unworthiness. You recognise it’s time that you gave yourself the chance to try for a more satisfying and fulfilled life. Perhaps simply you need to talk through your concerns confidentially with someone who isn’t a friend or family member. Whatever you are bringing you need to feel safe, understood and experience meaningful change.

Therapy is all about building a safe and trustworthy relationship, which takes time, but let's start with meeting for a free 20 min discovery call to find out if I'm a good fit for you. I work creatively and collaboratively, it isn't one size fits all. I want to hear what you're searching for and I can tell more about how my approach might support you.

My first session

The first session is a chance to begin to share your concern and your biographical history - I will ask for an overview of your family tree and am curious about any previous experience of therapy. I want to hear what you're searching for, what matters to you, what you love and care about. I will share more about how my approach might support you. I work creatively and collaboratively, it isn't one size fits all. Most importantly we are getting to know each other and this takes time. I recommend a minimum of 6 sessions to start with.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a Mindful Self-Compassion and Mindfulness teacher trainer and group facilitator. I lead training and CPD groups from small to conference level both online and in person. My areas of particular expertise are mindfulness (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction), Compassion (mindful Self-Compassion), Fierce self-compassion, Forgiveness, Cultivating Joy, and Radical Acceptance and Change.

Practice description

My senior leadership roles in the field of mindfulness and compassion for the past 10 years has involved supervising and training the next generation of teachers at prestigious organisations, including the Sussex Mindfulness Centre, the Mindfulness Network, the Mindfulness Project and The Centre for Mindful Self-Compassion. This extensive experience reflects a deep commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional training and ensuring the effective and ethical delivery of mindfulness-based approaches.

For over a decade and a half, I have facilitated mindfulness and self-compassion courses, retreats and CPD events for therapists. My work has spanned various settings, reaching the general public, embedding practices in the workplace, and contributing to mental health support within the NHS and MIND. This breadth of experience has honed my ability to tailor teachings creatively to different contexts and populations.

I have a particular passion for supporting mindfulness practitioners who wish to deepen their practice beyond the beginner level, which led me and my colleagues to launch an online mindfulness community, In Good Company, in 2024. We are dedicated to providing ongoing support, advanced teachings, and a rich communal space for sustained practice development.

Complementing my work as a mindfulness teacher and trainer is a robust clinical background. For 11 years, I served as a university student-staff counsellor and group facilitator. This provided me with a comprehensive breadth of clinical mental health experience, enabling me to understand and respond sensitively to a wide range of psychological and emotional challenges.
