About me and my therapy practice

I’m a Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist with over 30 years' experience in private practice, the NHS and universities. I offer a calm, confidential space to explore what’s troubling you. I practise from Hackney and also work online via Zoom.

You don’t need to have everything worked out in advance - therapy can help even when things feel unclear or hard to name. I offer a reflective, emotionally attuned and respectful approach to help you explore what's going on, gain clarity and feel more grounded.

My work has a psychodynamic base, and is integrative and flexible, drawing on relational and CBT-informed approaches to support insight and practical change. I offer both short and long-term therapy, depending on your needs and what feels most helpful.

Alongside private practice, I worked for 11 years in the NHS, setting up a counselling service for 13 GP practices. For 16 years I managed a large university counselling service and held a senior leadership role at LSE (London School of Economics). I work at London Business School and for 10 years was a Core trainer on the CPPD Â鶹ԭ´´-accredited counselling course.

I offer a free brief phone or Zoom consultation if you'd like to see whether working together might feel like the right fit.

Practice description

Therapy offers a reflective and confidential space to make sense of emotional difficulties, including life changes or challenges within relationships. It can help you explore patterns that feel confusing or limiting, resolve areas of your life that feel stuck, and support new ways of relating to yourself and others.

This process helps deepen understanding and support practical change, impacting how you manage emotions, relate to others, and approach everyday challenges.

I work near Victoria Park in Hackney, East London, and offer therapy both in person and online, including for people based outside the UK.

Sessions are available during the daytime and early evenings, and I offer both short and long-term therapy depending on what feels most helpful.

We can arrange a free introductory phone or Zoom call to help you decide if therapy feels like the right step.

I also offer clinical supervision and consultancy to staff working in the NHS, education and other organisational settings.

You are welcome to get in touch if you have any questions.

My first session

Your first session is an opportunity to talk through what’s bringing you to therapy — whether you have a specific issue in mind, or things feel stuck or out of balance in your life. We’ll explore what’s been happening and think together about what kind of approach or time frame might best support you.

You’re welcome to ask any questions about therapy and how I work. Many people find the first session helpful in its own right, as it can bring perspective and relief simply to have space to talk and feel heard. There’s no obligation to continue beyond that, and you’re free to take time to decide what feels right.

Beginning therapy often starts with a small step, and even an initial conversation can begin to make things feel more manageable.

If you'd like to speak informally first, we can talk by email or  arrange a free brief introductory phone call or Zoom meeting.

I’ve worked with hundreds of people in private practice, GP surgeries, hospital-based clinical psychology departments and at LSE (London School of Economics). I’ve also managed a large NHS counselling service, and for 15 years was the Head of Counselling and then Head of Student Wellbeing at LSE, managing a team of 30 counsellors, mental health advisers and disability advisers, as well as working as a student counsellor at the University of Westminster and at the London Business School.

I also worked for 8 years as a core trainer on the CPPD Â鶹ԭ´´ Accredited counselling course, training many cohorts of students over this time.

As a therapist and supervisor I’m interested in making sense of clients' difficulties, and helping supervisees to find meaning and solutions to their problems.

I believe the quality of both the therapeutic and supervisory relationship is vital to help people feel heard and understood. We best discover how best to work with our clients through openness, curiosity and the capacity to collaborate with others.

Practice description

Supervision sessions last for 50 minutes and can take place on a weekly or fortnightly basis, depending on your needs and circumstances. We can be flexible with session times and the schedule of meetings too, if this is the best arrangement for you.

I work in Hackney in East London and work both in person and online, including to people based outside of the UK.

Sessions can take place within the daytime and early evenings, and there is a choice of in person and online meetings.

Some people prefer to meet for in-person therapy sessions, and we can also arrange a blended approach, if you are looking for a flexible pattern of in-person and online meetings. I also work with a number of people based in other countries, where we can also arrange session times that take into account any time differences.

We can arrange a free brief introductory phone or zoom call if you would like to get in touch for a preliminary conversation, and many people find this initial contact helpful before making a decision about choosing a supervisor.

Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or enquiries.

Fees for supervision  from £75, concessions for trainee counsellors may also be available.

My first session

The first meeting give us a chance to look at your needs for supervision, and get a sense of how well our approaches and experience would align for working together.

My approach is integrative with a strong psychodynamic base, and I also draw on 25 years experience of offering cognitive behavioural therapy and other approaches.

As you would expect, there is no commitment through this first meeting, and it’s up to you whether you choose to take supervision further after our first meeting together.

If you have any questions about supervision, please feel free to contact me and we can arrange a preliminary 15 minute phone call or Zoom meeting.
