About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my page. I am an experienced M麻豆原创 Accredited Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor based in North Shropshire. Since establishing The Listening Room Counselling Service in 2012, I have supported adults, children and young people within private practice, schools, SEN settings and residential children鈥檚 homes.
I am an integrative counsellor, with the person-centred approach at the heart of my practice. I also draw upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, systemic thinking, psychodynamic understanding and animal-assisted approaches. I adapt the therapy to meet each client鈥檚 individual needs and preferred pace.
I support people experiencing anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, stress, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation and behavioural challenges. I also have extensive experience of working with autism, ADHD and additional learning needs.
Sessions are available in my private counselling room, online or outdoors through equine-assisted counselling and learning. My animal-assisted work includes my herd of therapy ponies, Roxy the chocolate Labrador, Ace the cocker spaniel and Doris the cat. Equine-assisted sessions are ground-based, with no riding or previous horse experience required.
Together, we will explore your needs and consider how I can best support you or your child. This may involve traditional talking therapy, creative approaches, online counselling, working outdoors with the herd or integrating several approaches.
My aim is to provide a safe, confidential and compassionate space where you feel heard, understood and supported.

Practice description
I describe myself as an integrative counsellor, with the person-centred approach at the heart of my practice. I also draw upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, experiential work, systemic thinking, psychodynamic understanding and solution-focused brief therapy.
I work in a highly individual way with adults, children and young people. I offer you my many years of professional experience, knowledge, honesty and respect as we explore the issues you wish to bring to counselling. There is no fixed script or expectation; sessions are shaped around your experiences, needs and preferred pace.
One approach does not suit everyone. We will work together to consider how I can best support you, your child, family or group. Sessions may involve traditional talking therapy in my private counselling room, online counselling, creative therapeutic activities or outdoor equine-assisted work with my herd.
CBT can help you recognise unhelpful patterns of thinking, understand how these influence your feelings and behaviour, and develop practical ways of managing difficult situations. Solution-focused work can support you in recognising your strengths, identifying goals and beginning to see possibilities when life feels stuck.
Equine-assisted counselling and learning provides a different, experiential way of exploring emotions, relationships and behaviour. Sessions involve ground-based activities alongside the ponies; there is no riding involved and no previous experience with horses is required.
Whether we work indoors, online or outdoors with the herd, my aim is to provide a safe, confidential and compassionate space where you feel heard, understood and supported.
My first session
Counselling begins with an initial consultation, during which we will discuss what has brought you to counselling and consider how I may best support you or your child. Following this consultation, we will agree and formalise an individual therapeutic plan based on your needs.
I will send you a counselling contract outlining the practical arrangements, confidentiality, boundaries, fees and cancellation policy. This must be read and signed by both parties before regular sessions begin.
Sessions usually take place weekly, on an agreed day and at a convenient time, and last for up to one hour. Progress will normally be reviewed every six weeks, allowing us to evaluate the work, identify any changing needs and decide together whether further counselling would be beneficial.
Sessions may take place in my counselling room, online or outdoors with the ponies. We can also combine different approaches, for example, part of the session may involve room-based CBT, followed by experiential work with the herd. Combined sessions can be particularly helpful for children and young people who find it difficult to maintain their attention during a full hour of room-based counselling.
If your session includes equine-assisted work, please wear suitable footwear and dress appropriately for the weather. All equine sessions are ground-based, and no previous experience with horses is required.
Counselling sessions cost 拢60 per hour. Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer.
If you cannot attend an arranged session, please leave a message on 07870 639770 as soon as possible. At least 24 hours鈥 notice is required for cancellations; appointments cancelled with less notice or missed without notification will be charged.

About me and my therapy practice
I have been a clinical supervisor since 2019 and value the variety, professional depth and balance that supervision brings to my practice. I enjoy developing collaborative, collegial relationships in which supervisees feel safe to reflect openly, explore uncertainty and celebrate their professional growth.
The Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision provides the foundation for my supervisory work. I would describe my approach as collaborative, reflective, expressive, restorative and inquisitive. Together, we can explore the client鈥檚 world, the therapeutic relationship, the supervisee鈥檚 responses, the wider professional context and the supervision relationship itself.
Every supervision session is different. We may explore what feels 鈥渟tuck鈥 within a therapeutic relationship, consider a client issue that lies outside the supervisee鈥檚 experience, or reflect on how personal material may have been activated by the work. We can consider different therapeutic models, themes, interventions and practical strategies, working flexibly to meet the individual needs of each client.
I can offer supervision to student counsellors in training and qualified counsellors working within organisations, or developing a private practice, or combining both. I can also support practitioners incorporating Equine-Assisted Counselling and Animal-Assisted Interventions into their work.
My aim is to provide a warm, supportive and appropriately challenging supervisory space where we can think creatively together. I hope that each session leaves supervisees with greater clarity, renewed confidence, deeper self-awareness and a clear sense of how to move forward.
Practice description
The Listening Room Counselling Service has provided therapeutic support to children, young people, adults and fellow practitioners across Shropshire since 2012.
I have extensive experience of working within private practice, primary and secondary schools, SEN settings, social services and residential children鈥檚 homes. This has given me a broad understanding of the organisational and multi-agency contexts in which many counsellors work. My specialist experience includes supporting clients with anxiety, bereavement and loss, trauma, PTSD, abuse, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, autism, ADHD and other additional needs. I am also DSL safeguarding trained and work from a trauma-informed perspective.
Alongside traditional room-based and online counselling, I provide outdoor, nature-based and equine-assisted counselling and learning. My small herd of therapy ponies, together with my dogs and cat, form a genuine part of the therapeutic environment. This work provides an experiential way of exploring emotional regulation, relationships, communication, trust, boundaries and self-awareness.
My varied practice enables me to support supervisees working with adults, children and young people across private, educational, residential and organisational settings. I particularly welcome supervisees who work creatively, outdoors or alongside animals, as well as those wishing to develop their confidence in these areas.
Whatever setting or therapeutic model you work within, I aim to offer a safe, reflective and non-judgmental supervisory relationship in which you can explore your client work honestly, develop your professional identity and feel supported in providing ethical and effective practice.

My first session
Before either of us makes a commitment, I feel it is important that you have the opportunity to read through my supervision contract, which I will send to you by email.
We will then arrange an initial meeting, either online, in my counselling room or outdoors with the herd. This gives us both the opportunity to talk about your supervision needs, ask questions and decide whether we feel we are a good fit for one another.
If we both feel comfortable moving forward, we will agree on regular dates and add them to the diary. I find that booking monthly sessions in advance provides consistency and is helpful for us both.
I have supported student and qualified counsellors throughout their professional development for many years. As my supervision diary can become busy, arranging sessions in advance helps to secure your preferred dates and times.
