About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling weighed down by anxiety, loss, or difficult relationships? You don’t have to face it alone.
Anxiety - Maybe your mind never switches off. You overthink, replay conversations, and worry about what’s next. Anxiety can leave you exhausted, trapped in self-doubt, and disconnected from the life you want. Over time, it chips away at your confidence, relationships, and sense of self. But it doesn’t have to stay that way. Imagine moving through your day without the constant noise, free to enjoy the moments that matter. Together, we’ll explore what fuels your anxiety, untangle the thoughts that hold you back, and help you build tools to take back control.
Loss - Loss can shake your world. Whether it’s a loved one, a relationship, or even a sense of direction, it can leave you feeling stuck, unmotivated, and alone. You may wonder if you’ll ever feel like yourself again. Grief has no set timeline, but when it keeps you from living, support can make a difference. I’ve helped many people work through loss and rediscover connection, meaning, and hope for the future.
Toxic Relationships & Boundaries - Maybe you feel drained from always putting others first, stuck in people-pleasing, or walking on eggshells around someone who never seems satisfied. Toxic or narcissistic relationships can leave you feeling small, powerless, and unsure of who you are. Over time, you may lose confidence, feel guilty for wanting space, or stay trapped in patterns that don’t serve you. Therapy can help you recognise these dynamics, set healthier boundaries, and find your voice again—so you can feel valued, respected, and free to be yourself.
How I Work - I offer therapy online and in person, giving you a safe, supportive space to talk openly. My focus is on helping you feel understood and equipping you with tools to move forward—at your own pace, in a way that feels right for you—so you can feel calmer, lighter, and more in control of your life.
Practice description
I work with adults, tailoring my approach to your unique needs. In my experience as a counsellor, I have supported clients on a long-term, weekly basis for as long as it was helpful, and I have also worked with people in a time-limited way with a set number of sessions. Whatever your situation, we can work together for as long as you feel is necessary to reach your goals and live your life more fully, free from the weight of symptoms that may be holding you back.
Imagine feeling more in control, waking up looking forward to your day, enjoying your interactions with others, and handling negativity with calm confidence. Picture being able to assert your boundaries without fear of others’ reactions, leaving you feeling more empowered than ever. These changes are possible, and I can help guide you there.
You can choose between traditional therapy, Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), or a combination of both—EFT can be a powerful complement to therapy. There is no set time limit or maximum number of sessions. And even once our work together ends, you always have the option to reconnect in the future if you feel you need a few top-up sessions or your circumstances change.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) - I offer Emotional Freedom Technique, aka EFT which helps to greatly reduce upsetting emotions, behaviours, thoughts or many other things that may be causing you distress.
EFT can be incorporated into your therapy sessions, or used as a standalone treatment.
By tapping on specific points while acknowledging what is causing you distress, it reprogrammes the brain (memory reconsolidation) by eliminating, or greatly reducing the emotional charge it has over us, therefore freeing us from the distressing emotions.
My first session
Sessions are available face to face, by video call or by telephone call.
On entry to my premises, there are a few steps at the front and then my office is upstairs.
I’ve written in more detail about online sessions on my website with some suggestions (water, privacy, charger, location suggestions) https://wishawcounsellingservice.co.uk/online-telephone-counselling/
In your first session we cover the paperwork and any questions you may have. I send the paperwork out before your first session to give you the opportunity to read it beforehand. This can save you time in the first session, allowing us to get to why you came to therapy quicker.
Typically, the first session is all about looking at what brings you to therapy and what you would like to get out of your sessions.
But not everyone knows the reasons that bring them to therapy, or what they want to get out of the sessions.
For a lot of people, they just know something is off, or they no longer want to feel the way they feel and they are looking for a change.
I always aim to reply to everyone ASAP Monday to Thursday. If for whatever reason you haven’t received a reply, check your spam/junk folder and if still no reply, please contact me again as I’d be horrified at the thought of you thinking I’ve ignored you, I look forward to hearing from you.
