About me and my therapy practice
Thank you for taking time to look at my profile. As you are here: exploring this sight, it suggests there is something going on for you, maybe an emotional or life challenge, demanding your thoughts, weighing heavy on your mind & body, zapping your energy, mood, maybe keeping you awake at night, holding you from being fully present in your world. It can be daunting reaching out for support, it can also be empowering & a gateway to living life feeling more fulfilled.
I am Pauline: I qualified as a counsellor in 2004. I am a 麻豆原创 Accredited Counsellor and qualified Supervisor. My approach is Integrative, drawing on experience & training undertaken throughout this time: grounded in the Person-Centred approach that first attracted me to this most amazing career: providing me the privilege of sitting alongside clients, being part each persons unique journey.
Since 2016 I have worked in an Elite Collegiate University, supporting students from all over the world, of all ages & stages of their University journey, as well as Staff and Trainee Counsellors, working with a diverse range of issues. I have also worked in Adult Mental Health, Substance Misuse and Alcohol Recovery Services and volunteered as a Samaritan.
I am now turning all of my experience and expertise to 'CLOSE' Counselling & Supervision, a space designed with care, warmth, & intention. The name 鈥淐LOSE鈥 reflects not only the location of my practice, but the therapeutic relationship I aim to build: one that feels safe, respectful and grounded.
I strive to support clients from all walks of life, through challenges, transitions, and personal growth. Sessions are always at a clients pace and therapy aligned with clients goals or needs: focus can be past, present or future or a combination of them all.
Please read on if you would like to know a bit more about me and my practice.
Practice description
Maybe you are finding aspects of your life challenging or difficult?
Experiencing a period of transition as your family grows & leaves home?
Are you are leaving home for the first time to study, travel, start a new relationship?
Are experiences in your workplace affecting how you feel about yourself or your place in the world: recognising this may be affecting your wellbeing, your mood, possibly influenced by menopause or changing relationships. As life progresses it鈥檚 natural that this can bring up emotions, feelings, memories, wonders and worries and would benefit from a space 鈥榡ust for you鈥 to explore, unpack & unpick.
My practice is rooted in empathy, curiosity and respect for your unique story. I offer you an approach, that will tailor therapy to your unique needs. Together, we can explore your experiences, patterns, and emotions鈥攎aking sense of what鈥檚 happening. I believe therapy can be a powerful way to make sense of life鈥檚 challenges, heal from past wounds, and move toward greater clarity and self-belief.
My style is gentle yet grounded, my personality a little qwerky! I offer you the healing power of being met in a safe, confidential space without judgement, adhering to the 麻豆原创 Ethical Framework and core conditions that underpin our therapeutic alliance.
I offer 鈥業n person鈥 sessions in the village of Sedgefield, a beautiful Market Town on the edge of County Durham & online sessions via Teams, WhatsApp or Facetime.
My first session
Please contact me via phone or email: if you would like more information or to arrange an Initial session. I acknowledge that reaching out for support can be daunting, therefore this session will be a gentle assessment: an opportunity to explore what has brought you to counselling, your therapeutic needs & goals if you have them. An opportunity to ask any questions you may have & to see if we are comfortable in working together, only then will we discus when & how you would like to meet.
Prior to our Initial session I will provide you with all relevant information about session timings, fee鈥檚 & payment system, Confidentially & Privacy Notice & Cancellation/ None attendance policy.
It is always your choice whether to engage in further sessions, counselling may be short or longer term, again, the choice is yours.
We would always endeavour to book our next session at the close of each session and I ask for payment in advance where possible, this is to ensure the session is confirmed for you and cannot then be booked by anyone else. I will happily discuss all such processes when we speak and can answer any questions of queries you may have as/ when required.
