About me and my therapy practice

I offer supervision to therapists, counsellors, and practitioners working with children and young people. My integrative approach draws from psychodynamic, creative, somatic, and systemic models, supporting reflection across a variety of settings.

Supervision will be collaborative and relationship-centered. I provide a space to explore clinical material, emotional dynamics, and the wider environmental, social, institutional, cultural, and political factors that influence therapeutic work.

Sessions aim to support reflection, professional development, and ethical practice.

My first session

The first session can be held online or in person and will be dedicated to getting to know each other, clarifying your goals for and needs from supervision, determining whether we are a good fit, and reviewing the parameters of our possible work together.

Availability

I currently have limited availability for both in-person and online sessions. You’re welcome to contact me and see if we can find a suitable time.

I work primarily with teenagers and young adults.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer a space where you can bring all parts of yourself and your life stories. Together, we can slowly begin to explore what may lie beneath concerns and patterns, make sense of past and present experiences, and develop greater awareness of your ways of being. This can support you in relating more compassionately to yourself, connecting with others, and engaging with life in a grounded and meaningful way.

My background

I am a psychotherapist, qualified to work with children, adolescents, and adults. I have experience with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low mood, anger, loneliness, loss, transitions, family breakdown, domestic abuse, self-worth, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. I work with experiences of complex trauma, attachment difficulties, relationship challenges, and the impact of childhood experiences. I have supported young people who have or are awaiting a neurodevelopmental diagnosis, holding in mind the emotional and relational impact of these experiences.

I have worked and studied across different countries with children, young people, families, and adults within education, mental health, and social care settings. I currently work in the third sector, providing psychotherapeutic support to children and young people, and I am involved in counselling training for adults.

I hold the following qualifications:

• Doctorate of Psychotherapy and Counselling, University of Edinburgh

• Master of Science in International Relations, University of Edinburgh

• Bachelor of Social Work, Lund University

• Postqualifying diploma in Psychotherapy (Children & Adolescents), UKCP-accredited

• Postgraduate diploma in Counselling (Adults), COSCA-validated

• Certificate in Clinical Supervision, UKCP-accredited

• Certificate in Academic Practice, Associate Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy

• Selected additional training: Emotionally-focused Family Therapy, Mentalisation-based Treatment for Families, Group Work, Somatic Trauma Therapy.

Practice description

My approach is integrative and relational, with a strong grounding in psychodynamic thinking. Depending on the needs of each client, I draw on a range of approaches (including systemic, somatic, and attachment-based) and incorporate creative ways of working, particularly with children and young people. This may include imagery, storytelling, clay, puppets, sandtray, and play, recognising that not all experiences can be expressed through words.

This work explores the deeper, often unconscious layers of thoughts, emotions, bodily experiences, and relational patterns, including how past experiences may be repeated or re-enacted in the present, alongside the influence of social, political, and cultural contexts on emotional wellbeing. It can be helpful for those experiencing longstanding emotional difficulties, trauma responses, relationship challenges, self-criticism, unresolved past experiences, identity-related concerns, or looking for self-exploration.

We will work at your pace, focusing on what feels most important to you. I work with whatever you bring, whether that involves healing from difficult experiences, managing losses, conflicts, and life transitions, or seeking a greater sense of connection. I offer a consistent and confidential time and space to think carefully and openly about experiences; supporting you to develop a deeper understanding of your inner world, explore underlying patterns, emotional difficulties, and aspects of yourself that you may find hard to access.

If this resonates, please get in touch to arrange an introductory call. You can also email me any questions you may have.

My first session

In the first instance, we can arrange a brief introductory call so you can ask questions, and we can explore what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping to gain, and how I might support you.

For children and adolescents, the first session usually includes parents/carers and focuses on gathering background information and thinking together about how to proceed. I see the wider relational context as an important part of the work, and involve parents/carers wherever possible and appropriate. Supporting caregivers can help create the conditions for change and understanding within the wider family system.

For adults, the first session is an opportunity to explore your current concerns and history, and to consider possible work together.

In-person sessions are held in a home office, accessed via two short flights of stairs with a landing in between. There is currently no step-free or wheelchair access. A dog resides on the premises but is not present in the therapy room. Online sessions are available as an alternative.

Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly at the same time and day.
