About me and my therapy practice
The values that guide my integrative-collaborative approach to clinical supervision focus on the well-being of both practitioners and clients, co-creating trust, respect and enhancing competence, resilience and nurturing ethical practice. I include kindness among the values which I feel are an undervalued aspect of human interaction, often mistaken for weakness, yet it is a powerful force with significant psychological, social, and physical benefits. Research consistently finds that both the giver and recipient underestimate its positive impact. Kindness enables a more constructive way to challenge practice that promotes engagement, enables supervisees to be less defended and are more willing to explore vulnerability.
I draw on integrative theory including the principles of mindfulness, empathy, and self-reflection to foster a safe, supportive, confidential space for reflection and a non-judgmental environment for my supervisee's professional and personal growth. I allow time to consider different perspectives and to explore transference and counter-transference issues.
Although my work as a therapist and supervisor have become an integral part of who I am, my therapeutic/supervisory and relational values are grounded in my own lived experience of having been a client and my training and experience as a clinician.
I am the clinical lead of a CYP Counselling Service where I undertake a range of therapeutic approaches including running a Dialectical Behavioural Therapy programme. I have experience of working in various therapeutic contexts; Substance Use, Residential Therapeutic Communities, Private Practice and with over 20 years’ experience as a clinical supervisor and designated safeguarding lead. I offer individual and group supervision to counsellors/therapists/mental health practitioners who work with children, adolescents, adults and families.

Practice description
I am a Â鶹Դ´ Specialist Accredited supervisor since 2012 (this is my original Â鶹Դ´ Senior Accreditation) and more recently Â鶹Դ´ Senior Accreditation as a psychotherapist aligned to column C in the SCoPEd framework. I am an Online Therapist and Digital Clinical Supervisor, and hold Senior Professional Â鶹Դ´ with ACTO (Association for Counselling and Therapy Online) and membership of Society for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy UK.
I have experience of working with supervisees in the UK and internationally in a diverse range of therapeutic settings. These include child, adolescent and adult client groups, Neurodivergence, Substance misuse, Rape and Sexual Abuse, Domestic Violence, Trauma Informed Schools, Further Education and therapists and counsellors in Private Practice.
My core psychotherapy training is Transactional Analysis and more recent trainings; Humanistic/Person Centred counselling, ‘Third wave’ cognitive behavioural therapies including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCT), Mindfulness in Individual Therapy (MIT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Zen Therapy, Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), Digital Therapy, Complex Trauma Certification Training, Trauma informed Supervision and EMDR; all of which inform my approach.
It is always my intention to bring clarity of attention to the co-created supervisory alliance where supervisees experience a supportive space for safeguarding client and therapist, exploring client related concerns, ethical perspectives, counter transference, cultural questions/biases and technology mediated communication and whatever other issues the supervisee brings.
The Attitudinal Foundations of Mindfulness provide the foundation for acceptance and tolerance of day-to-day challenges. This allows us ‘slow-down’ our cognitive process and focus on our felt-sense and with practice this can benefit us from learning how to regulate emotions, manage feelings and decrease vulnerability to situations .
My first session
I provide an online no-obligation, no-charge initial brief session to explore whether working together might be beneficial.
I suggest to all potential supervisees that it is good practice to meet with a number of potential clinical supervisors to inform their decision-making process.
