Our accredited member to senior accredited member route 2: Level 7 qualification route, is for accredited members who have attained a validated Level 7 counselling or psychotherapy qualification that meets the eligibility criteria.Ìý

If you’re successful in your application you’ll be able to use the designatory letters ‘Registered Member MÂé¶¹Ô­´´ (Snr Accred)’ and promote yourself as aligned to column C of the SCoPEd framework, alongside the other benefits of senior accreditation.

You’ll be required to demonstrate training, client hours, personal development, supervision and reflective practice. Your supervisor will need to provide you with a supervisor’s statement. 

Eligibility criteria overview

To apply you’ll need to:Ìý

  • be an accredited member of Âé¶¹Ô­´´
  • be practising as a counsellor or psychotherapist. You must have been in practice for at least four years when you apply for senior accreditation
  • have successfully completed a formally validated Level 7 counselling or psychotherapy qualification that included assessment on:Ìý
    - critical appraisal of the history of psychological ideas, the cultural context, and relevant social and political theories and application of this knowledge and understanding to inform and evaluate own ongoing practice, and;
    - a substantial empirical research project, systematic review or systematic case study that was informed by wide current understandings of therapeutic practices, or;Ìý
    - an in-depth research proposal for a substantial empirical research project or systematic review
  • the combined total of direct tutor contact hours for core training and post-qualifying practitioner training must be no less than 500 hours
  • have completed a minimum of 50 hours of supervised counsellor or psychotherapist practice since your initial accreditation
  • have an ongoing current contract for counselling or psychotherapy supervision for a minimum of 1.5 hours per month
  • have been supervised for at least 1.5 hours per month throughout the period of practice submitted
  • have completed 160 hours of personal therapy or personal development work that has contributed to your self-awareness and is applicable to your therapeutic practice

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you'll need to complete the application form which includes reflective practice criteria to enable you to demonstrate Âé¶¹Ô­´´â€™s standards for senior accreditation and the SCoPEd framework column C competences.

  • details of your training with copies of any relevant award certificates
  • details of your practice, personal development and supervision
  • personal statement
  • supervisor’s statement
