Are you a qualified psychotherapist with lived experience of an eating disorder or disordered eating, and do you work with clients presenting with similar difficulties?

I’m Mercedes, a finalist at the MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling at The Minster Centre. I am looking for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists to take part in a research study for my dissertation. This project has received ethical approval from The Minster Centre. All procedures adhere to the Âé¶¹Ô­´´ Ethical Guidelines for Research in the Counselling Professions (2019).

I’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Are a at least two years post-qualification
  • Have a personal history of an eating disorder or disordered eating behaviours
  • You don’t need to have had a formal diagnosis
  • Consider yourself to be in recovery
  • Currently work with clients presenting with eating disorders, disordered eating, or associated difficulties — including body dysmorphia, poor body image, or exercise-related concerns. This doesn’t need to be your specialism

What the research involves:

One interview conducted in person or via Zoom, lasting approximately 60-90 minutes Optionally, you may share any creative reflections following our conversation such as journal entries, written pieces, or artwork, should these arise naturally for you Participation is entirely voluntary and anonymous. You may withdraw at any point without giving a reason.
