My research is an exploratory study of the wounded healer theory and whether counsellors relate to it or not, exploring their motivation for counselling and how this has impacted their client work in relation specifically to empathy and self-disclosure.
An in-depth analysis of how the counsellor鈥檚 lived experiences may have impacted their therapeutic relationships, if they have a shared experience with their client and how they navigate this ethically.
From consenting to take part, an email will be used to send all the information required to completed before the interview, completing the consent form, reading of the information sheet and questions, and afterwards the debrief sheet.
For the interviews, it will be online data collection, through MS Teams, recording the audio and transcribing the interview.
To comply with ethical guidelines, the interviews are only audible, and pseudonyms used in the transcript and analysis
