A critical exploration of primary teachers’ wellbeing and the potential role of therapeutic interventions in addressing their needs
Call for participants: primary school teachers wanted for wellbeing research
We know that being a primary school teacher can be extremely stressful and that sometimes interventions to help primary school teachers can feel tokenistic. To understand this better I am conducting a PhD research project into the mental wellbeing of primary school teachers.
My name is Ceri and I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and accredited registered member of the Â鶹Դ´ and I am interested in what might benefit the mental wellbeing of primary school staff. This project will try and understand more about the mental wellbeing needs of primary school teachers whilst also offering participants the opportunity to take part in an online workshop with other teachers that will be run by me.
The research has been approved by the School of Education and Communities Research Ethics Committee. This means that the research follows the standard of research ethics set by the British Educational Research Association.
What is involved?
If you choose to participate in the project you will take part in a 60-90 minute online interview with me about your experiences of wellbeing and wellbeing interventions at work. This interview will be recorded. You will also have the option to join an online workshop next year that will be developed based on the interviews
You can participate if you are:
Currently or in the past 12 months employed as a primary school teacher in a state funded school in England
Able to attend an online interview
Your taking part will be safe and confidential
Your privacy and safety will be respected at all times.
- As far as possible the researcher will make sure that you cannot be identified in any written material created from the study (for example it will not include your name or any information about where you are from or where you live or teach or the name or location of any places you mention in the interview/group)
Why participate?
- Reflect on your practice with a qualified therapist
- Contribute to research to improve understanding of teachers’ needs
- Option to join free CPD workshop and receive CPD certificate
