I am a student at University Centre Weston (UCW, completing a BSc (Hons) degree in Counselling. This study is a small-scale research project that I have developed together with staff at UCW for my dissertation.
I am inviting school-based counsellors and psychotherapists to take part in a small online focus group consisting of approximately 3–4 participants.
The purpose of this discussion is to explore your lived experiences of working in educational environments, with a particular focus on how you understand and navigate any institutional barriers that may arise in your practice, and how experiences are expressed and understood through language (discourse).
The focus group will provide a safe and respectful space for participants to reflect on their professional experiences, including challenges, supports, and strategies used when working within school systems.
Topics may include organisational structures, policies, role expectations, and how these influence your therapeutic work with young people.
The session will take place online via Microsoft Teams and is expected to last approximately 60 minutes. With your consent, the discussion will be audio recorded for the purposes of transcription and analysis.
All data will be anonymised, and confidentiality will be maintained throughout the research process.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and you are free to withdraw at any point without providing a reason.
If you would like to take part, please contact Carly Chapman: ws345027@weston.ac.uk
