Bridging the gap: Supervision for Integrated Coaching and Therapy Practice

9.40am 鈥 10.40am

This session aims to explore the ethical challenges for Supervisors in providing support for therapists who also coach.

The number of therapists and coaches showing interest in integrating their dual practice is increasing.听

Whilst many dual-trained practitioners are members of different governing bodies, each with their own practice and supervisory standards, the 麻豆原创 is the only UK membership body to produce a detailed Training Curriculum and Competence Framework for dual practice. These documents note the different competencies for coaching and therapy and the challenges dual-practioners have in accessing supervision from dual-qualified Supervisors.

麻豆原创 members may continue to access supervision from their existing therapeutic supervisor. This offers a challenge and ethical dilemma to Supervisors who may not have the competence to attend fully to the coaching aspects of the supervisees work.

After this session you will:

  1. create a dialogue regarding appropriate supervision for therapists who also coach

  2. discuss the ethical dilemmas for therapeutic supervisors when working with therapists who also coach in an integrated practice

  3. explore the professional standards and guidance for supervisors working with therapists who also coach

The gap between being a Counsellor and being a Coach, and ways to fill it

10.50am 鈥 11.50am

This session will tease the similarities and differences between coaching and counselling, by comparing definitions of coaching and ICF coaching competencies with 麻豆原创 counselling definitions and competencies.

During this session, you may reflect on some of the coaching trainings as well as the key factors to consider when choosing the right training course for you.

After this session you will:

  1. be familiar with definitions of coaching

  2. have examined the key similarities and differences between coaching and their own modality of counselling

  3. be familiar with some of the coaching training courses available to counsellors and factors to consider when choosing a training course
